PlateScan++ , ALPR as never seen before.

May 28th 2009
PlateScan++ the most advanced automatic license plate recognition system yet engineered is now available in N. America.

Following its introduction into North America, PlateScanTM achieved wide recognition for its innovative and accurate software. As time has passed, and new technical capabilities have become available, PlateScanTM decided to undertake a complete reengineering of its system. The result is PlateScan++TM, a system which advances ALPR technology to a new level of capability.

PlateScanTM engineers looked at the inherent deficiencies in existing ALPR technology and said, “We can do better.” They started from the beginning and engineered a new level of ALPR technology, resolving many of the problems that have been a limitation of previous versions. With these changes, the accuracy of PlateScan++TM has been dramatically enhanced versus previous versions as well as when compared to competitive systems.

·         Since its introduction into North America, license plate recognition cameras have been bulky, difficult to mount and nearly impossible to conceal. PlateScan recognized this and undertook to provide the best solution for both mobile and fixed solutions. The result is the PlateScan PSC-R7, a new camera array with small, compact “dual” (IR/color) capability, able to fit in with most of the new popular LED light bars.

·         PlateScan now includes a completely new and intuitive user interface

·         As states issue new plates, the accuracy of ALPR systems often suffers. PlateScan++ has engineered the way ALPR works so that these changes can be quickly incorporated into its system, making it up-to-date within a matter of days rather than the weeks or months it used to take.

·         No longer are letters stacked two or three high on a license plate an impediment to an accurate plate read. PlateScan++ reads most stacked characters and reports them to the system’s database exactly as registered in the state.

·         With the development of a new neural network recognition infrastructure, where possible, PlateScan++ will be able to report the state of origin of most license plates.
